Indication
Treatment of nematode infections. Poultry: Treatment of ascarid (roundworm) infections. Swine: Highly effective against nematode infections, on both adult and immature stages of large roundworms (Ascaris suum), nodular worms (Oesophagostomum spp.), intestinal threadworms (Strongyloides ransomi), lungworms (Metastrongylus spp.), stomach worms (Hyostrongylus spp.) and kidney worms (Stephanurus dentatus). Ruminants: Effective against common adult GI nematodes and lungworms and many larval stages.
Dosage
Administer through drinking water. Poultry (deworm once every 3 mos): 1 tsp/4 L for approx. 20 heads. Swine - Piglets (treat at day 35): 1 tsp/4 L for approx. 10 piglets. Growers and finishers (treat at day 75 when moved to grow or finish area): 1 tsp/4 L for approx. 2 pigs. Sows and boars: 1 ½ tsp/4 L/pig (Sows: 5-7 days pre-breeding, 2 wks prior to farrowing. Boars: at least 2x/yr).
Contraindications
Do not use in cows producing milk for human consumption. Do not treat animals simultaneously or within 14 days before or after use with other nicotine-like compounds (e.g. pyrantel, morantel, diethylcarbamazine) or cholinesterase-inhibitor drugs (e.g. organophosphates, neostigmine). Avoid concomitant use with chloramphenicol.
Precautions
In cases of serious over dosage (over 5x of the recommended dose rate), hyperaesthesia, salivation, muscular tremors, head shaking and occasionally diarrhea may occur. If pigs are infected with mature lungworms, coughing and vomiting are observed soon after medication is consumed but will resolve after several hours. Do not exceed the recommended dosage. Do not repeat the dose at intervals of less than 22 days.
Withdrawal
Poultry: 3 days.
Swine: 3 days.
Cattle: 22 days.
