Using this Display Controller / Converter Board I2C module, enough number of pins controlling this LCD screen (4 data pins on 4-bit / 8-pin data mode at 8-bit mode + 1 RS pin + optional 1 pin for R/W+1 pin Enable,outside the pin to control the backlight). On microcontrollers / development boards with limited numbers of pins (such as in Arduino Uno), this is a problem because pins available are widely used for display so that in large numbers of modules (assorted sensors) available pins are available Used up.

Luckily available this converter I2C board uses only 2 pins (on Arduino Uno, just connect with A4/SDA pins and A5/SCL other than +5V supply and ground / GND). Even when you've already used other I2C-based modules, no additional pins required because I2C equipment can be connected together with existing I2C pins (shared bus pins).

The contrast level can be tuned by rotating potentiometer (blue electronic components). Turn clockwise to improve contrast, turn in reverse direction to reduce contrast.
