1. The choice of container and substrate

The seeding container should choose a shallow basin with strong air permeability and water permeability. The substrate is required to be loose and fertile. It can be mixed with leaf rot, husked ash and garden soil, exposed to strong light or high-temperature disinfection, after screening, the coarse and subdivided.
2. Treatment before sowing

The containers used should be washed, and the drain holes in the bottom of the basin should be padded with clean tiles to ensure unblocked drainage. Put coarse-grained substrates in the lower half of the basin and fine-grained substrates in the upper half, but it should not be overfilled. It is better to be about 2 cm from the mouth of the basin. Then place the pot in the water reservoir, the surface of the pot is exposed to the water surface, so that the water can penetrate from the bottom of the pot from the bottom to the top, and the seeds can be planted after the pot soil is wet.

3. Sowing time

After the fruit of Four Seasons Begonia matures, sowing is generally carried out from September to March of the following year, and it is ideal to sow from December to January of the second year. At this time, the temperature is low, the room temperature is easy to control, the disease and insect pests are not easy to breed, and the seedlings grow robustly.

4. Seeding method

Mix the seeds with fine garden soil and spread them evenly on the surface of the pot without covering the soil. Cover with glass for moisturizing, and place in a cool, ventilated place. If placed in a greenhouse, shading is required. Under the condition of 15~22℃, it can germinate in one week. About one month after emergence, when there are two true leaves, the seedlings are divided for the first time. Use soil with soil for sowing. In the future, seedlings can be divided for the second time according to the growth situation. Finally, the planting pot soil should be mixed with dry manure or loamy soil. When 6 true leaves appear, topping is performed. Generally, it takes about 6 months from sowing to flowering. Divide the seedlings for the first time, planting at a distance of 2 to 3 cm. The depth is based on the closeness of the base leaf to the soil surface, press moderately and keep it moist. Shade for 2 to 3 days and gradually strengthen the light. If there is too much water and insufficient sunlight, the rhizomes and the entire plant are easy to rot. When planting in the upper pot, it is advisable to plant deeper and cut off some old roots to promote the occurrence of new roots and facilitate plant growth and development.
