The Good Sprout C&S (Cactus and Succulent) Special Potting Mix Specially formulated for your cactus and succulents to ensure fast drainage and anti-clogging. This type of potting mix is very important especially to your cactus and succulents because they are prone to root rot when you use just regular garden soil or potting media that does not drain fast. Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth Powder has also been included for pest control management. Diatomaceous Earth is a unique type of sand that consists of fossilized algae. Food grade diatomaceous earth is often used as an insecticide. When it comes into contact with the insects, the silica removes the waxy outer coating from the insect's exoskeleton. Without this coating, the insect cannot retain water and they die of dehydration. Our special C&S Potting Mix is made up of 70% Sterilized Pumice and 30% Organic Potting Mix (with organic fertilizer) to ensure healthy Cactus and Succulents. The reason why STERILIZED pumice is added as opposed to normal pumice is to prevent formation of fungi and bad bacteria. Pumice is washed repeatedly to get rid of majority of the dirt, and is subject to a certain temperature of heat for a few minutes to get rid of the bacteria and fungi. Each pack contains approximately 1KG. Please note that upon receipt of item, the potting mix may be moist and there may be some slight discrepancy in weight due to changes in the environment.
