Product Description

The year 2021, marks the 100th Anniversary of "Robot" -- the term coined by playwright Karel Čapek -- derived from the Czech word "robota" meaning forced labour. Čapek's theatre play Rossum's Universal Robots or most commonly known as "R.U.R" premiered in Prague back in 1921 and has been translated into several languages. As a commemoration for this event, the Czech Embassy in Manila and the Ateneo de Naga University Press partnered for the publication of this work in Filipino. The Filipino translation by Rogelio Sicat is the first translation of this literary masterpiece and this edition carries illustrations by John Sherwin Acampado and book design by Ryan Cuatrona.
