The student is exposed to many new concepts and progresses to the intermediate level by the end of the book. C, G, D, F, Bb, Eb Major and C Minor are introduced with folk songs and original pieces by Michael Aaron. Note reading tests are presented every few pages. Slurs and ties, half steps, accidentals, eighth notes, dynamics, transposition, triads, 6/8, and staccato are also covered. All the major scales are provided at the end of the book in one octave as well as a one-page dictionary of musical terms. GRADE TWO Triad inversions, syncopation, sixteenth notes, damper pedal, dominant seventh chords, the chromatic scale, triplets, the minor scale, the major and minor triads are presented in Grade Two. Michael Aaron has included his original pieces, arrangements of classics, folk songs and Hanon exercises. All the major and minor scales are provided at the end in two octaves with tonic chords in all inversions. A one-page dictionary of musical terms is found on the last page. GRADE THREE Grade Three presents augmented and diminished triads, cadences, short biographies of composers and technical suggestions for many of the pieces. Pieces included are originals by Michael Aaron; his arrangements of familiar pieces of Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Burgmueller, Chopin, Haydn, Massenet, Tchaikovsky; and original pieces by Czerny and Ellmenreich.
