Masala chai is a popular drink in India that's a mix of Assam black tea and different spices. Although it is so common in India, you would be surprised to find out that every family has their own recipe of masala chai. For our ground masala, we use just the basic spices with our Assam black tea cut tear curl (CTC) leaves: cloves, cinnamon, star anise, green cardamom, black pepper, and ginger. For our whole masala, we basically have the same ingredients but Madagascar pink peppercorns are added into the spice mix. For more information on the health benefits of each spices, please refer to the photos above. How to Make Masala Chai? 1. Heat up about 1 1/3 cup of water in a pot on medium-high heat. (This is for 2 cups of chai) 2. Add the masala chai (recommended is 1.5 tablespoons but you may add more or use less, depending on your preference) and let it boil for a minute. You can also add sugar at this time or add it in the cup when serving. 3. Add 3/4 cup of milk and stir it in. 4. Bring the tea to a boil. Once the tea comes to a boil, turn off the stove and cover with a lid for one minute. 5. Strain the tea in a cup and enjoy! We ship within 1-2 days upon confirmation of your order.
