Inabel/Abel products are done through traditional weaving of what we call as "pakan" or the colorful threads. It is one of the most popular local product of Ilocos Region. It became so popular to the point that foreign businessmen wanted to computerize the hand looming process and make the fabrication of blankets, bath towels, pillow cases and fabrics for dresses and gowns faster. However the loom weavers rejected the proposal as they wanted to preserve the heritage. They want to preserve the uniqueness of the Inabel products which will lose their appeal if mass produced by machines.
Up to this present, there are numerous Iloco Inabel shops that can be found in Vigan, Baguio and La Union because the traditional weaving techniques are passed down generation to generation.
