The Dance Perhaps we dance throughout life, and the dance in which we choose to partake is up to forces unbeknownst to us. While we are driven to find answers, sometimes the universe leads us on an interesting path. The narrator, who is nameless, from Haruki Murakami's ''Dance Dance Dance'' experiences such a journey as he revisits his past driven by forces from his subconscious and from, possibly, another dimension. Investigate his actions, passions, and decisions in this summary and analysis. Inspiration and Newness From Tokyo to Sapporo to Hawaii, the narrator sets off on a journey to reacquaint with a past lover, Kiki. She calls for the narrator in his dreams. He follows her cries. Doing so, he is led back to where they first met, the Dolphin Hotel. Upon traveling from Tokyo to Sapporo, the narrator finds out that the hotel has been renovated, renewed, now known as l'Hotel Dauphin. It's fancified, but the narrator likes the old grit and grime. It's the newness that he fears. Befriending a hotel receptionist, Yumiyoshi, he learns that, while the old hotel has transformed into something new, the new hotel holds secrets. The secret is hidden on the sixteenth floor, where both he and Yumiyoshi find themselves lost in a dark world, coerced by light streaming from an open door, and intrigued by faces, like Kiki's, staring back at them. On a floor where most others witness normalcy, the narrator experiences a metaphysical journey. The visions that he has sends him back to Tokyo during which time he befriends a 13-year-old, Yuki.
