Product Description

Annual vinca/Madagascar Periwinkle is native to Madagascar and is prized for its nonstop flower show from early summer till fall. It requires less maintenance to keep it looking terrific. It cascades up to 12 to 18 inches down from hanging baskets. The numerous 2-3cm in diameter flowers comes in pink, purple, red, white, orange, magenta, and bi-colors. These flowers are very attractive to butterflies, bees and other pollinators. This vinca  requires regular pruning to continue blooming, making it average-maintenance sun-loving plants. This plant produces elongated seed pods that can contain 10-20 seeds.   GROWING INSTRUCTIONS Plant vinca in a sunny location with well-drained soil. If you are growing annual vinca in containers use a well draining soil. Don't pot vinca in regular garden soil because it doesn't drain well and can cause rot issues. It is drought tolerant but does best if you water the plants whenever the top inch or so of the soil feels dry to the touch. Take care not to overwater this plant; it's easily susceptible to root rot. STEPS IN PLANTING YOUR VINCA SEEDS 1. Prepare your seed box (pwede na ung flower pots kung walang seed box) 2. Put your garden soil on the seed box.. (soil should be fast draining with 5% sand, 30-40% coco peat, 40-50% garden soil/vermicast) water the soil first (seiving and rinsing the soil with boiling water may also help to protect the seedlings from damping off) 3. Put the seeds on the wet soil (dapat hindi masyadong magkakadikit ang mga seeds) 4. Put a very thin layer of garden soil, enough to cover the seeds PARTIALLY, not thoroughly.. 5. Sprinkle water again, just enough to miosten the last layer of garden soil. 6. Put your seed box in a safe place (hindi pwedeng maulanan or else the  seeds will be washed OUT, also watch out for insects and ants maaring kainin nila yung sprouts) 7. Sprinkle water Everyday, not too wet and not too dry 8. When the seeds start sprouting, sprinkle lesser water than usual, too much water makes the seedling rot 9. transfer the seedlings in a larger pot when its already 2-3 inches tall or when the seedling already has 3-4 mature leaves. Note: vinca thrives in full sun to partial shade environment.. too much rain may not be good for this plant, you may hang this in an area where it can be seen by the sun but can't be reached by too much rain. Keep potted vinca blooming well by fertilizing regularly with any general-purpose garden fertilizer. Be sure to follow the directions on the product packaging. If you have good or average soil, you typically don't need to fertilize vinca.
