This sensor allows you to detect if there's an object in the sensor's range. It consists of IR transmitter and receiver. The working principle is pretty simple, the sensor emits IR Light through the IR transmitter(transparent led) and measures the distance based on the reflected IR light that is received by the IR receiver(black led). Distance is determined by how much IR light was received back by the sensor which then fed to the LM393 comparator circuit to determine the output state. The output turns high if the distance between the object and the sensor is beyond the set threshold. The threshold can be set by turning the onboard potentiometer. Since it uses light as a medium, dark objects are sometimes hard to detect because of its ability to absorb light.
