Product Description

Cold-Pressed Castor Oil Castor oil is a multi-purpose vegetable oil that people have used for thousands of years. It’s made by extracting oil from the seeds of the Ricinus communis plant. These seeds, which are known as castor beans, contain a toxic enzyme called ricin. However, the heating process that castor oil undergoes deactivates it, allowing the oil to be used safely. Castor oil has a number of medicinal, industrial and pharmaceutical uses. It's commonly used as an additive in food, medications, skin care and natural beauty products. There is evidence that ricinoleic acid, a chemical compound that makes up almost 90 percent of castor oil, might help reverse hair loss. A study found that the protein prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) is present in high levels on men who have male pattern baldness, and is one of the factors that kept the subjects of the study from growing their hair back. Another study found that ricinoleic acid may help inhibit PGD2 and potentially help scalp hair grow back. Benefits and uses of castor oil: - Protects the skin against harsh environmental conditions - Reduces age spots, warts and moles - Effective emollient for severely rough, dry and cracked skin - Helps with skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis - Good for acne prone skin; Helps to breakup clogged pores; Also helps to sanitize the skin because it contains Undecylenic Acid, which kills the virus and bacteria that causes acne - Has very little scent - Thick oil, leaves a sticky residue on the skin - Great shelf life (at least a year) if refrigerated after opening - Helps heal wounds by stimulating the growth of new tissue, reducing dryness and preventing the buildup of dead skin cells - The moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties of castor oil make it an excellent option to keep hair soft and hydrated - Helps reduce dandruff symptoms - Note: A day before your first eyelash treatment, swatch a small amount of the oil on another part of your skin, like your arm. If you don’t develop any skin irritation, the oil should be safe for use on your eyelashes. The best time to treat your eyelashes is before you go to bed. To treat your eyelashes with castor oil: 1) Make sure your eyelashes are clean and completely free of makeup. 2) Pick up a small amount of castor oil by using a mascara wand or by dipping a cotton swab gently into the oil. 3) Delicately run the mascara wand or cotton swab along the top of your lash line, taking great care to not allow any of the oil into your eye (oil that gets in your eye could be extremely irritating and should be washed out immediately with water) 4) Wash off the castor oil in the morning with water or makeup remover. *Results vary for each person. *We do not recommend this castor oil for ingestion.
