Calathea zebrina or the Zebra plant is said to be a native to Brazil. It is an evergreen perennial plant that can grow up to one meter high. The stalks can go up to 30 cm and the leaves longer than 45 cm. The leaves are dark green with the spine and margins edged with lime green.
