Product Description

Bacillus Thruringiensis Biological pesticide Non-chemical ideal for organic farms Effective against caterpillars, higad, tilas, uod, corn borer, army worms, etc Bt (Bacillus Thurengiensis) w/out being GMO Bacillus Thuregiensis (Bt) is so effective vs crop pests that some wise guy decided to manipulate DNAs and splice them into crops and create what is called GMO Crops, like Bt corn, Bt Eggplant, Bt Soya, etc. They then patented the hybrid, & farmers who use them are under contract & under their control. GMOs are unacceptable in organic farming standards due to health & environmental issues. Bt can be used in its simple form by simply spraying. No need for Bio engineering background, no need for DNA manipulation, no need for sophisticated equipments, no need to be controlled by multinationals, no need for onesided contracts. Simply add to water & spray. And it produces same results w/ out health & environmental issues. Mode of Action: Halt is composed of millions of living Bt (bacillus thuregiensis) spores along with toxic crystals which works as a stomach poison to lepidopteran insect larvae by causing gut paralysis followed by septicemia. When a larvae takes its bite of a leaf treated with Halt, the alkaline medium of the larval gut breaks the crystal walls, releasing the 'endotoxin' into the larvae gut. The active toxin molecule binds specifically to a receptor on the gut wall and eventually pierces the wall. The larvae stops feeding due to gut paralysis. Technically a larvae that stops feeding is no longer considered a pest. The Bt spores then leak into the body cavity (haemocoel) of the larvae which offers an ideal medium for bacterial growth. The spores begin to divide and multiply starting their reproductive phase. The spores multiplication takes place rapidly; a new generation of spores is produced approximately every twenty minutes. Therefore, in about 12 hours there could be in excess of 100 billions new pathogenic cells in each larvae. The infected larva dies of septocemia (blood poisoning) in 1-3 days under normal field conditions, but sometimes upto 5 days, depending on the species and the larval stage involved. The affected larva changes behaviour becomes sluggish, discoloured and undergo regurgitation and diarrhoea. Most farmers observe this phase of larvae in the field after 2-3 days of Halt application. Dead bodies of small larvae are often difficult to find because they shrivel and turn black, before dropping on the ground. In case of large sized larvae dead bodies may remain attached to plant surface in a putrified and discoloured form. Benefits: Halt being a biological product is absolutely safe for human beings, livestock, birds, fish etc. Method of Application: Halt is a light brown coloured wettable powder. The powder is first mixed with small quantity of water to prepare uniform suspension and then add it to the sprayer tank containing desired quantity of water.
