'Black metallic taro' is native to Indonesia. The large, wavy-edged leaves have a lustrous sheen that gives the appearance of changing colour, from dark green to dark purple. The undersides of the leaves are silver-purple, and have darker veining. Alocasias need rich soil that is moist (not saturated) but well-drained. Plant in partial shade.
