Product Description

“PRODUCT STANDARDS Mech Malleable Cast Iron Fittings are manufactured in compliance with standard SANS 14 (ISO49) design symbol class ‘A’, corresponding to the materials and thread combinations, as prescribed. Mech fittings are specifically suitable for liquids, air, gas, water, hydrocarbons, etc., under pressure and temperature limits, relative to table ‘A’ of SABS 14 (ISO49) and/or any additional certification criteria and approval (e.g. F.M approval, certificate number 3038663) STANDARD APPLICATION Working Temperature: Minimum -20ºC to maximum 300ºC Max Working Pressure: Standard Fittings: 25 Bar (-20ºC to 120ºC), 120ºC - 300ºC (interpolated values), 20 Bar (300ºC) FM Approved Fittings: 50 Bar 15 - 100mm – NB, 30 Bar 125 - 150mm - NB SPECIFICATION Materials: ASTM/ASME A197, EN 1562, ISO 5922, ASTM A47 Dimensions: SANS 14, ISO (49), BS143/1562, EN10242 Jointing Thread: ISO 7/1, (EN10226-2), Taper = external thread, Parallel = internal thread. (Equivalent to BS 21, DIN 2999) Fastening thread: ISO228-1 (eg. Backnuts) Galvanizing (where applicable): ZINC Hot Dip Galvanized to minimum of 500gr/m², with minimum average thickness of 70 micron Grade of Material (Design Symbol ‘A’): W400-05 or B350-10 Design Test Pressure: 6mm - 100mm (100 Bar), 125mm - 150mm (64 Bar) CERTIFICATION Quality Management: Mech fittings are manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001:2008, quality management system certification. USES Malleable Iron fittings are cast as white iron, which, after casting is subject to an annealing process, strengthening the cast iron. The overall production and heat treatment distinguishes the product from non-malleable cast iron fittings, in chemical composition, micro structure, material strength, size and weight. Due to their durability and mechanical strength they are used as follows: Principle uses of malleable cast iron fittings are: - Water Systems - Domestic and Industrial Plumbing - Cooling and Air conditioning - Sprinkler and Gas fire extinguishing systems - Gas, emulsion and pressured air pipe lines - Oil, cooling and lubrication pipe systems - Petrol station, gas lines - Agriculture and Irrigation systems - Heating and Gas installations ADVANTAGES - Wide assortment and availability of fitting types - Drinking water friendly, with highly pure Zinc content on Galvanized fittings - Corrosion retarding and re-inforced internal threads for vast part of range - High grade materials, for maximum galvanizability - Each and every MECH fitting is tested - Operating temperatures from -20ºC to Max 300-ºC - Suitable for use with steel pipes: SABS62-1,BS1387, En10255, ASTM A106 and A53”
