The initial idea to create music for liturgical celebration was introduced by Rev. Fr. Nilo Mangussad, director of the Institute of Music in Liturgy. Fr. Nilo was Lester’s professor in Theory and Arranging subjects during his undergraduate studies at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music. But it took awhile for the first Misa Delgado book to be created and it was by the grace of the Holy Spirit that led Lester to start composing. In 2007, Misa Delgado Book 1 “Narito Ako” was launched. The warm appreciation and acceptance of the people to this new compilation of mass songs has motivated Lester to continue writing until he finished the five books of the Filipino series. The growing number of faithful who continue to patronize his works here and abroad has given Lester the much needed enthusiasm and zeal to continue in making Misa Delgado music.
